Yoga and Dentistry

Location:

Room 11

Course Description:

Anyone who has ever worked in clinical dentistry understands that dentistry is not for the weak! Years of chair-time can take its toll on both your body and mind and make it difficult to practice until retirement age. This course aims to introduce dental professionals to the mental and physical benefits of yoga and empower them to incorporate a regular yoga practice into their busy lives.

This course will include a short lecture followed by an active yoga class. Participants can finally earn CE while moving! The class will be an all-levels vinyasa and hatha fusion style on the gentle side, so no need to worry about too much sweat (unless you choose to break out your extra chaturangas)! A yoga class can technically be completed entirely in savasana (lying on your mat and meditating) for those who choose.

Athleisure attire recommended, but not required. Please bring a yoga mat to the conference if you have one, as mats are limited. Spokane’s very own, Beyoutiful Hot Yoga, is donating two-week unlimited memberships and free class passes to be raffled off to participants.

Speaker Information

Dr. Taylor Whittaker
Dr. Taylor Whittaker

Dr. Taylor Whittaker first began practicing hot yoga during college as a way to deal with stress and simultaneously workout. Upon her acceptance to the University of Washington School of Dentistry, she decided to pursue one more dream and earned her RYT-200 hour yoga certification through Global Vinyasa. For the last 10 years, she has taught hundreds of power, vinyasa, and hatha style classes. Taylor met her husband in dental school and followed him to his hometown of Spokane after their graduation in 2020. Today, her primary role is taking care of their two young boys and plans to return to regular practice when her boys enter school ages in the future. During her time as a stay-at-home-mom, she continues to regularly instruct vinyasa yoga classes at BEYOUTIFUL Hot Yoga
