Provider Wellness: Building Resilience, Balance and Longevity

Time:

11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Course Description:

Dental providers are deeply committed to caring for others, yet often struggle to prioritize their own mental, physical, and occupational wellbeing. Chronic stress, burnout, and physical strain are increasingly common across all dental roles, impacting job satisfaction, work environments, and long-term career sustainability.

This course explores provider wellness as a foundational element of a fulfilling and sustainable dental career. Using the Wellness Wheel as a guiding framework, participants will examine how attention to multiple dimensions of wellbeing—including mental, physical, emotional, occupational, and financial health—supports resilience, balance, and professional longevity. Participants will leave with renewed perspective on self-care—not as an indulgence, but as a professional responsibility that benefits both providers and the patients they serve.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify common signs and symptoms of stress and burnout among dental providers and their impact on professional wellbeing.

  2. Describe the role of the Wellness Wheel in supporting mental, physical, and occupational health.

  3. Recognize practical, realistic wellness strategies that promote resilience, balance, and career longevity.

Key Takeaways:

This course introduces wellness strategies across all dimensions of the Wellness Wheel—intellectual, emotional, occupational, environmental, financial, spiritual, physical, and social—with practical examples including mindfulness, movement, breathing techniques, ergonomics, communication, conflict management, nutrition, sleep health, and reflective self-assessment. Emphasis is placed on sustainable, provider-centered approaches that can be integrated into both professional and personal life.
