Dr. Jason H. Goodchild is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. He received his dental training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he still holds a faculty position as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine. Dr. Goodchild is a research dentist at DENTSPLY Caulk involved in educating dentists on new materials and techniques to improve clinical practice.  He has published numerous articles and lectures internationally on the topics of treatment planning, treatment of medical complex patients, restorative dentistry, pharmacology, emergency medicine in dentistry, enteral sedation dentistry, and dental photography. He has been an invited speaker for the Academy of General Dentistry and American Association of Dental Examiners. He is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association, General Dentistry, and Quintessence International.




Jason Swain is the owner and principal consultant of Jason Swain & Associates, LLC. He helps organizations survive and thrive today by creating and sustaining fully aligned and high performing teams. Jason brings over 14 years of professional experience in organization development, training, executive & corporate coaching. He has brought his experience and expertise to mid- to large-size, publicly held companies as well as non-profit organizations. Jason also teaches in the MBA program at Gonzaga University. Jason's clients have included American Express, Ford Motor Company, Gonzaga University, Iams Pet Foods, LensCrafters, Procter and Gamble, Samuel Adams Brewery, US Bank, United States Air Force, Xavier University and many others.





Stuart Taylor has dual specialty training - in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, and in Oral Medicine.

In 2013 he completed the 24 month, CODA accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology program at the University of Washington, including a 5 month rotation within the Neuroradiology Department at the University of Washington Medical Center.

He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine, having completed his residency in Oral Medicine in 2008, his MSD in Oral Medicine in 2009, and passing the ABOM examinations in 2012.

He was a member of the Faculty at the University of Washington within the Department of Oral Medicine from 2009-2011, and received an outstanding teaching award from the School of Dentistry Class of 2011.

Dr. Taylor is currently a member of the following organizations: American Academy of Oral Medicine, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, King County Dental Society






Dr. Dan Anton is an Associate Professor in the Department Physical Therapy at Eastern Washington University where he teaches orthopedics.  He has degrees in physical therapy from Northwestern University and Samuel Merritt College, and a PhD in rehabilitation science with an emphasis in ergonomics from the University of Iowa.  His primary research interest is work-related musculoskeletal disorders and ergonomic intervention. 






Dr. Veis began practicing in 1984 as a solo general dentist and has been a part of both solo group and group practices. Dr. Veis taught for 12 years at the University of Southern California as a Clinical Professor in Restorative Dentistry.  Most recently, Dr. Veis has lectured at UNLV and Columbia University.  In the future, he will be lecturing for the Academy of General Dentistry.





Sasha is a consultant and speaker for WEO Media, a Portland-based dental marketing agency.  She is a published writer on the topic of practice management.   She holds a Masters in Education with an emphasis on French, psychology and learning theory.  Her working knowledge in dental practice marketing and experience in educational psychology work together to provide immediate and easy-to-understand takeaways for increasing practice marketing efficiency.


Sasha has been delivering educational speaking events across the US and Canada since 2011 and speaks on a variety of topics relative to dental marketing and technologies.





Shannon Pace Brinker, CDA a National and International Speaker and published author and a 1994 graduate of the Dental Assisting Program at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, works with Dr. Trey White in his private practice in Virginia Beach, VA. She has been a full time practicing dental assistant for over 23 years. Shannon and her husband Erik are the owners of a new publication Contemporary Product Solutions. It is the only dental editorial that combines product review for the whole team. Dentists, assistants, hygienists, front desk associates, and the dental laboratory. This full-service publication will inform the dental team of the latest comprehensive clinical product information. Shannon past faculty member at the Dawson Academy and Spear Education, instructing through both lectures and hands on programs. She is an active member of the AACD. Shannon is the first auxiliary to sit on the AACD Board of Directors. She is also on the editorial board for The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry’s. She was the former Co-Editor-in-Chief’s for REALITY Publication TEAM ‘aRTie’ and Inside Dental Assisting. Shannon is a member of the E4D Clinical Operations Operators (ECO) group and had extensive input for the certified dental designer CDD certification. Shannon was selected one of Dentistry Today’s Top 100 Clinicians of 2009, 2010 and 2011. She was also selected as Dental Products Report 25 most influential women in dentistry and Dr. Bicuspid’s Dental Assistant Educator of the year for 2012. She is the Editor in Chief for Contemporary Product Solutions and consultant for many dental manufacturers.





Dr. Mark Donaldson received his baccalaureate degree from the University of British Columbia, and his Doctorate in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Washington.  He has further completed a residency at Canada's largest tertiary care facility, Vancouver General Hospital, and is the current Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center.


Dr. Donaldson is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Montana in Missoula, and Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Dentistry at the Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.  He has a special interest in dental pharmacology and has lectured internationally to both dental and medical practitioners.  He has spent the last fifteen years focusing on dental pharmacology and the art of dental therapeutics, and has become a leader in this field of study.


Dr. Donaldson has a number of published works in the peer-reviewed literature, published chapters in textbooks and has spent three years in Japan focusing on cross-cultural communication and internationalization. He currently serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the American Dental Association.




Phyllis Martina is the Senior Academic Relations Manager for Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals. She graduated from University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelor of Science degree with honors. She received her Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and finance from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles California. She has over seventeen years' clinical experience in general, periodontal and pediatric dental offices.

Phyllis' career in dental hygiene started in high school as a dental assistant and includes positions as clinician, faculty member, as well as corporate positions in marketing, sales and management. She developed and presented courses to student dental professionals, faculty, professional associations and study clubs. Phyllis is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association, American Dental Education Association and is a lifetime member of Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene honor society.






Carol Jahn, RDH, MS has a BS in dental hygiene from the University of Iowa and an MS in Continuing Education from the University of St Francis.  She has been a dental hygienist since 1982; she practiced clinically for 14 years in general and periodontal practices.  Currently, she is Senior Professional Relations Manager for Water Pik, Inc. She has published more than 85 papers and contributed to 7 textbooks including the 10th 11th  and 12th editions of Clinical Periodontology.  She is a past president of the Illinois Dental Hygienists’ Association and past Treasurer of the ADHA, and a 2013 recipient of the ADHA/Johnson & Johnson Award of Excellence.






Joel H. Berg is Dean of the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle. He is Professor in the UW Department of Pediatric Dentistry and also holds the Lloyd and Kay Chapman Chair for Oral Health.  Dr. Berg is a board-certified pediatric dentist and was President of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry for 2012-13. Dr. Berg previously held positions as Chair of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Washington from 2003-12, as Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Philips Oral Healthcare (Sonicare) from 2000-2003, and as Head of the Scientific Department for ESPE Dental AG (Seefeld, Germany) from 1998-2000.  He is the author of the book Early Childhood Oral Health, and of over one hundred manuscripts and book chapters on subjects including dental restorative materials for children and other work related to biomaterials. His current research interests include the development of dental caries prevention programs using risk assessment models and early childhood oral health.





Jessica Scruggs has dedicated the past 11 years of her professional life to the dental field, which has taken her across the United States including Florida, California, and Washington State. Her in-field experiences have included dental assisting, dental hygiene, consulting, corporate dental management, and public health. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Pacific University of Oregon and a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from Eastern Washington University.


Jessica currently works as the dental hygienist at an all female prison in California, providing patient care and maintaining dental office management. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Eastern Washington University since 2012, teaching in their Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree completion program. Jessica is dedicated to linking the connection between oral health and the whole body, including how dental care and the dental office impact our patients as well as the planet.






Dr. Ron Jackson is a 1972 graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry.  He has published many articles on esthetic, adhesive dentistry and has lectured extensively across North America and abroad.  Dr. Jackson has presented at all the major U.S. scientific conferences as well as to Esthetic Academies in Europe, Asia and South America.  He is an Accredited Fellow in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a Diplomate in the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry and is Director of the Mastering Dynamic Adhesion program at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. 


Dr. Jackson practices comprehensive restorative and cosmetic dentistry in Middleburg, Virginia. 




Ms. Garland is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene, Division of Health Sciences, at Idaho State University. She serves as the First-Year Clinical Coordinator as well as the Health and Safety Coordinator. She is responsible for ensuring compliance with infection control & safety in the dental hygiene clinic according to CODA and OSHA standards and CDC guidelines. She monitors and tracks vaccines for students, faculty, & staff in the department of dental hygiene. Other responsibilities include teaching initial infection control curriculum for first year students and annual updates and education for senior students, faculty, and staff.

She has served on various OSAP committees including the OSAP Research Committee and the OSAP/NIOSH/CDC Research Grant Project Committee, “Ensuring Compliance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard among Non-Hospital Health Care Facilities through a Pilot Project with Private Practice Dental Offices and Dental Clinics.”

Ms. Garland serves as a manuscript reviewer and also as an infection control “Ask the Expert Columnist” for Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, a peer-reviewed dental hygiene journal.  Her research has been published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene, the Journal of Dental Education, and Dimensions of Dental Hygiene.

She serves as an “expert dental hygienist” on the American Dental Association (ADA) National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) test construction committee writing questions for the national board dental hygiene examination.





Sarah Jackson, RDH, MS, Associate Professor, EWU Dental Hygiene

Sarah Jackson has been actively involved in the dental field for over 15 years including experience as a dental assistant, front office staff, and dental hygienist.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from Idaho State University.


Sarah has been teaching at Eastern Washington University in the dental hygiene program since 2005. She is a tenured Associate Professor and is currently the Second Year Clinic Lead.  Sarah has taught several courses in the curriculum including First Year Clinic, Preventive, Research, and Community in the undergraduate program.  She also teaches in EWU’s Master’s Program and facilitates classes for dental students from the University of Washington (RIDE program).  

Sarah has a contagious enthusiasm for the dental field and is dedicated to improving the future of her profession.


Sarah also practices dental hygiene in a general dental practice in Liberty Lake, WA.  She is very passionate about oral health and loves educating her patients and providing them with an enjoyable dental experience. 






As Director of the Dynamic Team Program at the Las Vegas Institute, Sherry Blair shares her more than 37 years of experience managing each and every system within the dental practice. Sherry has combined her acquired knowledge and personal experience to create an inspired, effective and motivated curriculum that refines the systems surrounding the patient’s total experience in a dental practice. Sherry’s extensive exposure to most forms of practice management and dental systems, as well as her strong focus on patient satisfaction, make her uniquely qualified to enhance the effects of any dental practice.





Frank Roberts is the Director of the RIDE Program at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, an Associate Professor and Program Director in the Department  of Periodontics, Chief of Periodontics at the Seattle Veterans Administration Medical Center, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Roberts teaches in both the pre- and post-doctoral dental programs, has a PhD in microbiology, and his research involves provision of health services, understanding the molecular mechanisms of tooth enamel development, oral health in chronic neutropenia, and biology and imaging of the dental implant. He also provides blood borne pathogen training for the school and community and serves as an infectious disease consultant to the state dental board.





Dianne Glasscoe Watterson, RDH, BS, MBA has more than four decades in dentistry. Her business, Professional Dental Management, Inc., is based in Frederick, Maryland.   Since 1997, Dianne has been published extensively, including authoring  two monthly columns in national dental publications- one in Dental Economics called “Practice Wisdom” and the other in RDH called “Staff Rx.”  Dianne is a well-known provider of continuing education for dental professionals and has presented for associations and major dental meetings across the US.  In addition to serving on the editorial board of RDH magazine, Dianne is a co-author of Foundations of Periodontics for the Dental Hygienist, a text used in many hygiene programs.  She has published two books:  Manage Your Practice Well and The Consummate Dental Hygienist.  Dianne was honored by Dentsply™ as a “Distinguished Dental Professional” in 2005. Also, Dianne was honored by Colgate™ in 2009 and 2010 as a “Key Opinion Leader” and serves on their Oral Health Advisory Board.  Dianne has been chosen as a Leader in Consulting/Speaking by Dentistry Today every year since 2006.  She is a member of Christian Medical/Dental Association,  American Association of Dental Office Managers, American Academy of Dental Hygiene, and American Dental Hygienist Association.





Lisa is a graduate of Broome Community College, NY with twenty-seven years of clinical practice experience. She began her career in the Center for Osseointegration in Washington DC, which specialized in dental implants and prosthetics. She is

an active member of the ICOI and ADIA, two organizations dedicated world class education pertaining to dental implants.

As an international speaker and educational consultant for over twenty-five years, Lisa has presented a wide range of topics to audiences throughout the world. She is a committed member of the NSA, National Speakers Association, which promotes the highest standards of professional speaking partnered with lifelong learning.

After working in Singapore for five years, Lisa relocated to Washington State where she currently        practices.  She is also the Professional Education Manager in the NW for Philips Oral Healthcare.

Her passions in life include triathlons, cycling, swimming, snowboarding, and travel. 






G. Lee Ostler DDS is a 1983 graduate of the University of Washington School Of Dentistry and has a private practice in Richland Washington.

Dr. Ostler is founding member and on the Board of Directors and Past-President of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health. He is a consultant to the dental industry, professional associations, and dental and medical continuing education entities, advising in matters of product and curriculum development and oral systemic healthcare.

Dr. Ostler lectures and presents to dentists and physicians nationally and has created programs and resources which facilitate professional interdisciplinary networks and which help dentists, physicians and public health agencies to improve patient care and better manage risk factors related to oral and general health.

He is the author of a number of related articles, physician resource manuals, and a handbook on the subject of medical-dental professional networks and principles of multi-disciplinary co-management.

His work and materials are currently being used by health professionals and industry consultants across the United States and internationally to build professional networks and to advance the understanding and adoption of emerging science confirming the relationships between oral and systemic health inclusive of periodontal disease, TMJ/D, oral cancer, obstructive sleep apnea, and caries management.
